Went 4, got it done. Next year, same goal - 2500 miles. I expect to have most of it out of the way by May, as I'm doing the Dirty Kanza 200 (see events). Training for a double century will require AT LEAST 1200 miles of training. If anyone wants to join me for the event or training, or both, just holler. I've worked out a reasonable training schedule and will be happy to share it with you.
See details for tomorrow's ride at hiawathacyclist.blogspot.com. Happy New Year!

Cripe's sake.
3.5 miles away. I've had a couple of amazingly cold rides. My forehead hurt, my toes were numb, just stupid. Anyway, I'm almost done.
I'll get the above amount sometime in the next 24 hours or commit myself to the Institute for Complete Failures, and Who Can't Read Good (ICFWCRG).
Don't forget, we ride on New Years.

Making progress.....
Had a GREAT Christmas. Got up early to open presents with the kiddos, then took a short nap. Ate some brunch and got in 42+ miles. Down to about 42 miles left! I'm on call tomorrow, which really screws up the rides for several days, but I'm close enough to just hammer out the last few.
Hope your Christmas was awesome.

Merry Christmas!
19.7 today, only 84.5 remaining!
Might have gotten a bit more had the sun not been in such a hurry to set. This was my first real ride since late October, and I was pleased at how well the lungs and legs responded. Anyone up for a ride Christmas day? Give a call. I'm planning on AT LEAST 25 miles.
I hope you have a super Christmas - I'll wish you a Happy New Year in person when I see you for the New Years Ride!

Got some!
Went a short 6.2 on the mountain bike today. Cold, and slippery, but got in ahead of the snow which is on its way tonight. Next week is supposed to get almost balmy (50's). If anyone wants to go for a spin let me know.

No miles yet!
Man. What a mess. Ice everywhere, trees falling in every yard, and power out all over town. I've been on the trainer for a few hours, but it'll be a while before I crank any significant road miles. I've actually suggested going out, but the wife thinks I'm a moron, and suggests I keep the grey matter between my ears so I can have an income, or something like that. Not sure I understand her reticence, but if I listen once-in-a-while, then I get to keep riding and buying bikes.
Be careful.
Be careful.

Getting started.....
As I write, freezing drizzle is falling outside, covering a bunch of frozen slush and snow, and the wind chill takes us to just downright freaking cold. I have just over 100 miles to ride to make this years goal of 2500 miles, and I am chomping at the bit to get ANY distance. I'll be on the trainer for the next few days trying to get back a little exercise capacity from a major delay from sinus surgery. If you are a member of bikejournal.com you can check out mileage for the entire Redleg Racing Team - a group of guys from around Hiawatha, Kansas. I'll be logging miles there, too.
